Club News

Everyone associated with the North Bay Snowmobilers Club, both Directors, Volunteers and Riders are asked to submit a minimum of 3 suggestions or ideas that they think would improve the snowmobiling experience on NBSC trails, whether it be signing, grooming schedules, safety improvements, trail routes, permit purchasing, website, trail maps, intersection sign boards, etc.

If you have more than 3 suggestions, let’s hear them.

Feel free to make more than one submission.

All ideas will be considered and listed anonymously for the Board to consider for implementation and the full list will be circulated to you at a later date.

Get on your thing caps and let’s hear from YOU.

There have been several bridge improvements as our Club received over $70,000 in Provincial Grant funding to replace a 40 foot long bridge over the Duchesnay Creek on TOP AD on the TCPL r.o.w. just north of Roy Drive. The old log bridge washed away in the spring runoff. A 30 foot long bridge will be installed to replace a failed bridge on A102Q. The work will be completed by RanDon Construction by mid-November. The Club;s Vice-President and Operations Director - John Miller was instrumental in organizing the extensive approval process through both TCPL and the NBMCA as well as the OFSC.

The trail reroute on TOP A2, the trail that runs from 4 Mile Bay, past the Nordic Ski Club to the pipeline that was in place last winter will be completed this year with some widening and flattening of the trail where practical to do so.

Other News

We are very proud to announce that our club won the 2010 Communications Award from the OFSC. This is thanks to this new website, our new logo and the “You Can Go Anywhere From Here” tag line. As well, our radio communications, signage, trail condition updates and the fact that we had live groomer locations on our website, so that riders could have knowledge of what trails were most recently groomed, were a big bonus to our riders.

We have also secured an incredible $5,000 donation from Dr. Waja, the owner of “Sto & Go. This is the seed money that was needed in order to make the above mentioned trail re-route possible. We are so appreciative of this donation – especially since it is responsible for making our trails that much safer. We encourage everyone to check out the state-of-the-art facility at Sto & Go at the top of the hill on Hwy 11 North just past Sandy Cove Marine. If you need to store your stuff – this is the place to do it!

We have ordered additional Trail Signs which are retro-reflective and larger. The signs include our web address www.nbsc.ca so as to remind riders where to go for information.

NBSC on Twitter and Facebook

In addition to our fantastic website, we are also on both Facebook and Twitter. Check us out and post your thoughts.

So, as you can see – lots new and lots going on. All we need now is the snow to fall.

Please buy your permits soon and please choose the North Bay Snowmobilers Club as your Club of choice – remember … You Can Go Anywhere From Here!
